Missy Woodward of Critter Crusades interviews Los Angeles Councilmember Richard Alarcon about the mandatory spay/neuter ordinance in Los Angeles. Councilman Tony Cardenas co-authored this first ever in the nation city ordinance to require dogs and cats over four months of age to be spayed or neutered to stop pet overpopulation.

  • Los Angeles, a first no-kill city? Stop the posturing! Los Angeles Animal Care and Control has widespread abuse of animals in their care.

Zephyr, released by his owner to a shelter in LA County, a perfectly healthy dog who died in the shelter!

Zephyr, Your Tax Dollar Was Used To Kill This Dog is the name of a video on youtube. That is the LA County Animal Care and Control!

  • L.A. City and L.A. County are different jurisdictions. I never write responses, this being the first, so expect this to be deleted soon.

  • If one cant afford to spay or neuter that should be a sign that you cant afford a pet therefore you shouldent have one.

  • This councilman knows where to begin to stop this horrible crime. One problem is over breeding..MONEY..also the vets charge so much money that the lower income who loves there pets can't afford to get them fixed. I'm glad to see this..more vets should offer there services.

  • great news!

  • GREAT!!

    Thanks

  • Kudos to you Alarcon. We need more councilmembers like this. Thank you.

  • Fantastic news!!!

  • Take the T out of you can't save them all. It changes everything! Awesome and congratulations LA.........now we pray for all of America to follow this example of what the ture meaning of a great leadership of a Nation really means ! We are a reflection of each other

  • Kudos to You,DoggyTY! I wish I could stop our humane shelter from euthanasia for those who are not immediately adopted. I saved a beautiful little Pekingese from there, Eau Claire,WI., a sweet Pekingese from the Shelter who lived 17 years with me. I rescued a kitty & it was taken to the shelter & euthanized in a short time. I had named"Goldie". Shame upon you, Lauren! You should be Foster & NO KilL!! Compassion? I miss Gerri, former manager who made it possible for me to adopt "Tiko-Kohana."
