Chinese Music Society "Resonance of Spring" Spring Concert on April 5, 2011, at Bodek Lounge, Houston Hall, University of Pennsylvania.

Performed by Celine (Xixi) Chen on Guzheng.

This song is most famously played on the guzheng. The song originates from the Shandong region. Shandong is a province on the Eastern coast of China. It is an area full of mountains - Taishan Mountains being the most famous - with the Yellow River passing through the Western part of the province. As you carefully listen to the performance, you will be able to hear the plucking sounds that reflect the irregularities of the mountains; the rhythmic strumming and tremolos help to illustrate the flow of the Yellow River.
