I really don't think that's true. The way he acts around her is more than the act of someone repaying a debt. It is the act of someone who genuinely loves and tenderly cares for the person around them.
(I do NOT mean couple love. I hate how in most stories lately any love is immediately stereotyped as a romantic love. People can have a strong bond without having that!)
