The debut full length from bass player, field recorder and soaringly spirited composer Nick Rosen -- a pretty darn beautiful cosmic jazz influenced gem in the Build An Ark school of modern, genre defying starry soundscapes! The set is arranged by Rosen and Build An Ark's Miguiel Atwood-Ferguson, who also plays violin, viola, piano and more -- joined by fellow Ark dwellers Dexter Story, Mia Doi Todd, Carlos Nino and others. That said, this is not a Build An Ark record, it's Rosen's -- whose work is a bit more grounded in jazz, but just as passionate, joyous and inviting. The instrumentation is ambitious, but there's a sense of intimacy, too. Flute, vibes, percussion, flugelhorn and French horn, harp, cello, bassoon and other elements bring it to flight. A pretty wonderful record -- and the first of what we hope will be a long career and great music to come from 25-year-old Nick Rosen! Includes "Ancestral Echoes", "Twin Harbors", "Manya", "Mindy's Song", "Blossoming Song", "Nature's Breath", "In Her Smile". "For People", "Rainfall", "African Sun" and "Winter Into Spring".
