HP Pavilion dv6700 Problem

Well the video is still up just for people who have the same problem as me. Hope you guys find a solution.

P.S: I took mine to a computer repair shop. Something was wrong with the hard drive. Whatever you do DON'T OVERHEAT YOUR LAPTOP.

When I got it fixed, they told me the Hard Drive was messed and mine was due to over heating. I suggest you just go to a Computer repair store and get it fixed.

EVERY HP DV6700 LAPTOPS ARE FAULTY DUE TO OVER-HEATING. THIS WILL DAMAGE THE MOTHER- BOARD, BATTERY, PROCESSER,ETC WITHIN 1 TO 3YEARS TIME.

THESE LAPTOPS SHOULD BE RECALLED BY HP. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. HP ARE HIDING THIS FACT & ARE FOOLING THEIR CUSTOMER'S WITH EXCUSES.

THESE DANGEROUS LAPTOPS ARE A HAZARD & CAN CAUSE FIRE, OR SKIN BURNS, ETC.

I PAID £800 WITH A BUILT IN BLU-RAY PLAYER & IN 2008 THIS LAPTOP HAD THE BEST SPECIFICATION BUT NOT WORTH. WONT LAST LONG!

did you ever fix it? Mines is the same way but when the blank screen comes up it has the bleeping underscore and not its usual "start windows in 30 secs" screen.

@drewc4 Same exact problem happened. Where you able to pull data off you old hard drive? Was it as simple as replacing the hard drive to get the problem fixed?

Then remove the cooler cover.(hint one screw is under the black tape and one is on the side. Clean thoroughly and reassemble. Your problem is solved. If you are in the Saint Louis area you can bring it to me and I will do it for $30. It won't take long and you are welcome to wait on it.

I have one and it works great. However, I take it apart from time to time and clean the cooling fan. Never had an issue and I run it for several hours at a time. You can not expect it to run once the fan gets clogged. You need to clean this out at least once a year. If you are having problem with your laptop freezing or shutting down then watch the video here on youtube on how to disassemble it. Once you get it open you will need new heat grease and you will need to remove the cooler.

I have the same laptop, DV6700, I recentlly started to have issues with it, it freezes constantly, the fan runs non-stop, and the screen dims and comes back to full brightness every 10 to 20 seconds, can anyone tell me what the problem could be please? They say it was the harddrive but after more researching I found out the the overheating in in the motherboard. Mine got fried and can never be turned on again. Bullshit I'm going on Toshiba or mac. They are the most honest and reliable.

@drewc4 well setup is: vista ultimate 32 bits and now the hardware: 4 gb ram, 2.4 intel centrino duo t7700, nvidia 8400m gs card and so on! im very proud i have one from the old series! after my comp series, there were crap pavilions!
