At Living Kitchen, the international trade fair in Cologne for industry experts and the public alike (imm 18 - 23 January 2011), fittings manufacturer Dornbracht will be presenting a new electronic fitting designed for wet working areas of the kitchen. The prototype's central component is an electronic control panel similar to the Dornbracht eTool for the shower. The user-friendly and intuitive control device makes it possible to regulate the fittings and to activate pre-set water programmes. Water can also be controlled by a foot sensor.

Dornbracht-Produktstudie: Elektronische Armatur für die Küche

Als Produktstudie stellt Dornbracht auf der Fach- und Publikumsmesse Living Kitchen (imm, 18. -- 23.

  • good job. but maybe you guys should focus more on finding ways of reducing the amount of water being used. i can't think of a way right now but i'm sure you can. we are living in a world of pollution and global warming. we need innovative ideas to save water...for the future.

  • Our business claim “Dornbracht – the SPIRIT of Water” stands for the responsible handling of water as a natural resource. Since 2009 we have managed to reduce the average water consumption of all fittings sold by 30 percent in total. The energy and water consumption is minimized independently of consumer behavior without affecting the premium quality of the product and the water experience.

  • @byutaine That´s a safety device. If you like to have a continuous water supply even in above mentioned cases, you should install / add a small back-up device, which is like a little emergency power supply that sits directly inside the distribution box of your power lines in the house. It´s common for example to support IT equipment when the electrical power is interrupted, giving enough time to shut down computers properly. So why not using this to back up the electronic tap.

  • Good Point! First of all there is no back up battery, but in case the power supply is interrupted, the internal solenoid valves will immediately close.

  • Is there a battery backup?

  • Sorry Ondus, Dornbracht has raised the bar again.

  • I should mention that I do enjoy the clean minimalism in the design. A change I'd like is the buttons as capacitive switches (flat length of glass with 4 divisions, instead of 4 physical circle buttons). Also... having to reach for the buttons on a wall is sub-optimal. If possible, embed the buttons seamlessly on the top surface of the faucet itself (closer, less wiring). Also, clone the girl a few hundred times. Thanks.

  • Take a look at the pre-programmed scenario, where you have four jobs at the press of the button - closing the drain, filling the sink, controlling the temperature and dispensing the washing-up liquid.

What do you expect from the kitchen fitting of the future?

  • Thank you for letting us know what you think – this is exactly what Dornbracht wants to generate for the product study by this means and by using the Facebook page. Because we aspire to be innovators and pioneers in design and technology, we incorporate future trends into our design and development – convenience and electronics will in future play an important role in the wet zone in the kitchen.
