President Obama Autographs 9yr old Michelles Book at University of Richmond

President Obama Signs my daughter Michelle's "Barack Obama Son of Promise, Child of Hope" Book by Nikki Grimes.MOV

At the University of Richmond on Sept 9, 2011 President Barack Obama came to speak about his Job Plan. My husband and I took the family in hopes of getting the free public general admission tickets on Thursday before they ran out. Once we secured the tickets we decided to pull Michelle out of school the next day for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Armed with the "Barack Obama Son of Promise, Child of Hope" book, by Nikki Grimes that her Aunt gave her a few years ago a writing pen for President Obama to sign with and wearing our 2012 Obama shirts that my Mother made the night before we arrived at the stadium and went through the process of being seated to hear our President speak. We went to the event with EVERY expectation that President Obama would sign the book even though we did not know where we would be sitting.

Throughout his speech as the President spoke, Michelle waved her book, cheered and clapped. She was in Awe. She even wanted to start a "Yes We Can" chant, but couldn't find the right timing lololol. Welllllll, when the speech was over and he was headed out and he getting closer to the exit, it happened.

She called his name, "President Obama, President Obama" and he looked up to acknowledge her. She held the book and pen down so he could reach it. He looked at her directly in her eyes, he reached UP to get the book and pen, he flipped through to sign it in the perfect spot, he took his time, he stretched back up to get the book in her reach, he gave her the signed book and pen with a gentle smile, he shook my hand, waved to a few more folks and exited through the tunnel. President Obama signed her book!! Michelle, me, my husband, our cousin, (and our entire section) was overcome with emotion and tears of JOY as Michelle was crying and smiling at the same time. Thank you President Obama, Thank you so much, Michelle will NEVER forget Sept 9, 2011 at the University of Richmond Stadium...the day she met President Barack Obama; the President of the United States of America!!!

SN: She has a Picture of President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Sasha Obama and Malia Obama on her vision board, with a note beside it that reads, "I'm going to meet them (with arrows pointing to the President and First Lady) and play at the White House with them (with arrows pointing to Sasha and Malia)". Now there is a Check beside President Obama's face, because as she says "I met the President."

If you are to sell it it will go for much more now while he is president, "holding on" would decrease its value over time. might not be a bad idea to sell and use the money in a fund or something as an investment. However the memory can never be replaced, and its just my 2 cents. Congratulations though, that is truly a wonderful moment! (: -NW
