One of the rarest and most beautifully restored classic aircraft in the world, a 1929 Hamilton Metalplane H-47 (serial No. 65), will be sold at No Reserve during the 39th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale on Jan. 18-24, 2010. The historic Metalplane was No. 22 of only 29 built and is the only airworthy example of its type in existence. Hailed as The Worlds Greatest Collector Car Auctions™, the Scottsdale event will feature a diverse mix of the worlds most desirable collector vehicles, as well as lavish lifestyle events throughout the week. SPEED will broadcast nearly 40 hours of live, high-definition coverage of all six auction days.
She is quite the plane, Gary never seemed to like "tail draggers" for some reason, sorry to see her go, spent a lot of time looking that one over, over the years, when Gary said his dad was a perfectionist, that's an understatment, that plane was perfect, just had a nice chat tonight with one of the last guy's to fly her before Jack passed away, there is a story behind every single piece that had to be rebuilt on that old girl, hope she is around for many years, it's worth a trip to see it..

As a young boy (age 2 7) I grew up around the restoration of the Hamilton in Hangar #5 at the South St. Paul, MN airport. My father use to take me to the airport where he and others spent many years working with Jack Lysdale to complete the Hamilton.
