Mass Revolt General Strike in Greece, Media reports Riots - Socialist Party

After the general strike on Wednesday, 10 December, Greece finds itself, for the 7th day, gripped by youth and social revolt.

Andros Payiatsos, Xekinima (CWI www.socialistworld.net in Greece, www.xekinima.org) spoke at the Socialist Party's Socialism 2008, and showed this film about the Greek workers and students struggles over the last 2 years.

Xekinima, is campaigning for: * the development of a new wave of occupations in schools and universities, * a general strike called by the Greek TUC, before Xmas, * a united front of the forces of the left, in order to take the movement forward * for SYRIZA to call its own rallies in the course of next week, in all cities * for the building of committees of struggle (action committees) in all areas, as the struggle develops, comprising of all layers involved * the fall of the government, which is hanging by a thread of a one-MP majority, to be replaced by a left government reflecting the movement of the youth and the working class, based on a socialist programme.
