Over Easter 2002, the Association of Railway Enthusiasts ran a tour to Tasmania with the Don River Railway.
Part 2 of this series features Y6 departing Launceston with a local tour and then the journey south behind X4 to Hobart with a side trip on the Fingal branch on 30/3/2002.
Picturesque Parattah Station/Pub - My old Grandfather tells many stories about this stop.
Back in the steam era they used to have trips from the South up to the North (roads were very poor then) for the football or the horse races - Parattah station would be packed to the rafters with punters having a beer while the Steam Loco's would fill with water etc. This was a very popular stop back in the day.
I was there not so long ago ('08) having a look around - it was bloody well snowing!
