Retribution, the 18th free expansion to EVE Online, brings Bounty Hunting to the fore with an all new system for putting a price on the heads of your enemies, or collecting on the bounties others have placed on your targets. Exact your vengeance with money or your guns, but either way remember that in EVE Online: Retribution revenge is just the beginning.

the thing with high sec is that it simmulates a rl standoff, the cops are there trying to talk you down an you have a gun pointed at the guy next to u's head, if you pull the trigger the cops will shoot you because your too much of a loose cannon to be talked down and they want to stay safe to protect others, ingame you shoot them in highsec knowing the risks just like that crazy guy and you get blown up. the sytem allways works because your immortal and can deal with the losses later.

it dosent matter about the new players, if they really wanted to keep playing eve they wouldent have quit but would have kept on trying to make it in that world and succede despite the odds, eve isnt supposed to be easy, thus if your not looking for a long term commitment you wasted your money. eve is a great game in the sense that it acts just like the real world, if you piss someone off enough they will kill u, if you commit too many criminal acts they will come back to haunt you, justlikeRL.

I guess we can agree to disagree as I do not share the view that the current system is an unattractive one nor a real problem.

We all have opinions and mine is that hi-sec is safe enough for it's purpose and concord provides adequate protection provided you make yourself a less appealing target for the very rare suicidal predator.

The only potential problem I see is for the uninitiated newbie and don't think that's a good enough reason to invoke divisional mechanics which effect everyone.

Short term thinking isn't going to cutt it. Think long term, these players will grow in skills, need new ships, gear, etc. Which means income for those that are already in the game for longer. Even longer term, they will provide new members for factions like pirate factions. So that's a bs claim ;)

New players lack the financial incentive to pull these kinds of ganks on unless they are plex heavy users from the start, in which case, yeah, I can see where you are coming from.

the thing is, a blanket switch for everyone creates unnecessary disparaging mechanics which harm a person's playstyle since some people hunt their prey for months before delivering their payload.

A timed exception for new players is a lot less damaging but it's debatable whether or not this sets a bad precedent.

I know what you mean, but it's lack of respect towards new players. Who will dissapear and thus everyone's income will be lacking thanks to these attacks. You can gain more from people that stay alive and you help out, then destroy everything. USA politics dont work in a game like this ;)
