REUPLOADED NOTE: This video was originally uploaded on 11 September 2009. It was reuploaded because YouTube wiped all of the audio because of a copyright violation due to a 15 second clip of "Homeless" by Paul Simon that appeared at the end of the video.

Haters need to read the background to this eviction:

If you think that it was Rosemary's "fault", you are missing the whole point. If you don't know anything about the foreclosure crisis or its causes, you might want to learn a little before condemning people trapped by it and fighting it. Try and be a little wiser about what you say about the people who live and die in your communities.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO

September 11th, 2009

Very quick rush video from a pocket camera, uploaded to Twin Cities Indymedia at around 5:30pm, to give you the flavor of the atmosphere of the final eviction of Rosemary Williams' home.

Rosemary is a foreclosure activist who is being kicked out of her place, after 55 years of living there, by a bank that was bailed out with taxpayer money.

As we stood there peacefully observing the scene, a male officer and a female police officer from the "MPD CRIME LAB" were filming us with video and still cameras. Time and time again, from federal cases involving agencies like the NSA data collecting illegally to state cases such as the post-RNC regulations on police video use and cases in DC, it has been considered a violation of privacy and a right of free expression to be able to peacefully protest without police departments filming and filing your actions.

For a video including footage shot later in the day, when the police arrested seven people and used pepper spray on the crowd, see the Twin Cities Indymedia production here:

  • call me a hater and I call you ignorant. This bitch agreed to and signed a contract. Who was the greedy one who signed the loan with a ARMS. Stupid people who sign that shit deserve everything that happens to them. If she didn't undstand what she was signing then she should have hired a lawyer to expain it to her. If not she screwed herself. Fucking hippies. Go blow it out your ass you god damned deadbeats.

  • WHat rights? SHe has no rights to what they aren't paying for. Nobody's fault but her own. She should have paid her fucking bills and this would have never happen. Take your entitled hippy ass and get a fucking job. Fucking pussy protesters. Housing is a human right???? ROTFL!!!! Paying for housing is a responsibility. That deadbeat fuck who didn't pay for the house had their day court so fuck 'em. Commie protesters think their entitled to other peoples property and money. Go die.

  • This sort of thing makes my blood boil. All those barstards that caused this should be hung and quartered. So many took huge bonuses that should be returned and put into a fund that could put all these peolpe back into their homes with payments that they can afford. I can imagine them grinning like cheshire cats. I'd like to see them grinning through steel bars

  • That is just fucked up, to throw a elderly woman out of her house after living there for 55 years! And it just makes me made to see all these abandoned houses, yet so many people living in the streets!
