Thank you for sharing, was a very interesting video and you have a good way of voicing yourself. I wonder if you had many of these running side by side just how much you could build up.......perhaps too something usable? Also...I wonder how a lightning storm in the area would effect it.......lol?

The wikipedia article on the subject reveals that the Earth acts as an electrolyte, and form a part in a tune circuit that amplified the voltage. BTW there is no limit how far "DC" can travel, like with AC it depends on the available voltage. In certain situations DC can travel further distances with less loss than AC. I too have problems with keeping my subject in the view finder with digital cameras, what a PIA. :(

Its the zinc and the copper that are doing all the work, the earth is just acting like a conductor. The zinc is really your battery and the electrons from the zinc escape to make the electricity but the effect is that the zinc rod will slowly fade away.

I wonder how it can be applied in our wireless digital world. Low power notebook is already possible because I see it is a Radio Shack voltmeter. We have to figure out some CPU clock frequencies for practical operations.

Thanks for sharing sir!
If you like to build an Earth battery as in the old days' telegraphs see Bedini's site for chart. It is a battery composed of several disks with wirewindings. The wire is wound flat over the disk plane, not as in regular cylinder coil. You make one several disk-wind with copper and several with iron. You discpose them in an alternating way so that they form cylinder and connect as you do now: plus connecting all one metal disks, minus connecting all the other metals.

Radio was not invented until the early 1900's and over half of the telagraphs in the USA , in the mid 1800's used this method to send messages over 300 miles.
