The Industry

Tropfest and St Kilda Film Festival entry The Industry is a tongue in cheak satire on the state of the Australian film industry and the film financing boards.

Born out of frustration and first-hand experiences in trying to get genre films made in Australia for the past 10 years it is interesting to note that only recently the major funding bodies have set up a division specifically to cater to and financially back genre films. BECAUSE. THEY. MAKE. MONEY. DUH!!....................have i said "duh" yet?....oh yeah i did.

Remember The Tender Hook? A seven million dollar crappy Aussie movie: bad script, underdeveloped characters, shit plot, and made on the cheap!!! So where did all the money go? Nepotism? What a racket! What happened to quality control? Script assessment? this little vid hits the nail on the head. The same bunch of losers keep getting funded and re-funded. While new ideas and budding talent is stopped at the door. The funding bodies need to be accountable for the decisions they make.

Yep this is not an issue about acting or anyyyything like that - this film is a statement about the way govt art bodies fail to help develop indigenous film industries and waste tax payers money on made to lose projects that benefit their bureacratic sense of culture. Same prob as scotland, and england and er most places

that was a great film man, hillarious and witty, and had a good point as well. That strikes right at the core reason why the Australian film industry sucks so much. And if i see one more bush bogan scene in an aussie movie i'l be sick.
