Continued : I have currently a 50 pounds red male, (not had), 3 years old in his prime, a fantastic specimen, im also 47 years old and bought my first breeding pair of staffordshire bullterriers when i was 17, i have many friends who breed & show them, i also have friends who have pitbulls, id say 30 years experience is enough to know a little about them?
@andrew999r a correction for you, the pitbulls still bred here never were the same as a "staffy " a pitbull is taller, leaner although similar, The Staffordshire Terrier in the USA IS a pitbull renamed to avoid the reputation of the pitbull, the staffordshire BULL terrier here is not just as tall but has a wider build, generally a softer nature with kids etc but still formidable fighters if provoked, those are the Original Nanny Dog (not the pitbull) I had a 50 pound Red Male Staffordshire Bull
@photographerireland im very aware of the origin...im not here to argue were they came from.....but yeh we Americans have taken it into our own...the original nanny dog.... pitbull is noticably different in structure from a staffi weather they came from the same place or strain what have u, ........anyways im done with this discuss. life is to short to be arguing on the net ....have a grate day sir.
this is. bull shit. you need a clue on dogs. you are book smart not breed smart my family has breed bull dogs for 31 generations and let me say you are fonny. you will not treat or every be a true vet. whit them lies
Good video Dr Justine, it's good to see someone in the USA realising this is an english breed therefore should not be called american pitbull, BUT some minor corrections> the bulldogs use for baiting bulls were much bigger 90 pounds plus, they were crossed with terriers to make them smaller & faster for dog fighting in pits, after bull baiting was banned > pitbull terrier 40 pounds+, the staffordshire bullterrier is a shorter stockier dog, then theres the english bullterrier, all english breeds
@andrew999r lol, An "american pit"? theres no such dog, americans may call it that but it doesent change the fact that the dog they claim as american is really the old english breed used to fight dog on dog in pits > the pitbull, there are only 3 breeds of bullterrier and all are english, 1 pitbull 2 staffordshire bullterrier 3 english bullterrier end of story..
Finally someone has clearly pointed out that the pitbull is NOT an american breed and therefore should not be called the American Pitbull, We Irish and some English were responsible for taking the dogs there from England and Ireland during the mass immigrations years ago and the breed flourished there just as it has done here, its a Pit Bull Terrier, the info in the video is good but not totally correct on a few points, Staffordshire bull terriers are different, shorter and more stocky etc
