Chris Montez, cantor norte-americano que fez muito sucesso no Brasil e no Exterior nos anos 60, interpreta "The Shadow of your smile", música de Johnny Mandel e letra de Paul Francis Webster. A canção está presente no LP "The more I see you", lançado em 1966, com arranjos de Herb Alpert, que também assina a produção ao lado de Tommy LiPuma. Trata-se de um dos clássicos da música mundial e já foi gravado por nomes como Barbra Streisand, Astrud Gilberto , Tony Bennet, Keiko Lee, Sarah Vaughan, Blossom Dearie, Johnny Mathis, George Benson, Ray Anthony & His Orchestra, Kenny G, Gerry Mulligan, Engelbert Humperdinck e outros. No Brasil, ganhou versão intitulada "Adeus às ilusões", interpretada pelos cantores Antonio Marcos e Wanderley Cardoso.
O cantor Chris Montez obteve o primeiro grande hit mundial com "Let's Dance", gravado em 1962 na Monogram Records, o que o credenciou a se apresentar em vários países, como na Inglaterra em show com Tommy Roe (intérprete de "Dizzy") e os "novatos" The Beatles em 1963. Depois vieram outros êxitos, como "The more I see you", "Call me", "Hey baby", "The very thought of you", "Time after time", "Sunny", "Loco por ti" e outras. A sua influência musical é a latina, já se apresentou no Brasil, e gravou em inglês duas músicas da Bossa Nova: "One note Samba" (Samba de Uma Nota Só), de Tom Jobim e Newton Mendonça, e "The girl from Ipanema" (Garota de Ipanema), também de Tom Jobim em parceria com Vinicius de Morais.

Another great "Bossa Nova" style song of the '60s cocktail/martini era. I remember my mom wearing a "cocktail ring" and my dad in his black suit and tie dancing to this song. I would have been about 11 or 12. Wonderful memories, wonderful music.
