The National Pastime boomed after the end of World War II and so did Bowman which realized that people yearned for the relaxing quietude that baseball memories provided prior to the horrific war. Their 1948 set, which was not attractive was a big $$$ maker for Bowman. They went from 48 cards in 1948 to 240 cards in 1949. From Black N White cards to Color.
