Step by step instructions:Sup!

Wasnt quiet sure where to put this.
Ever since the EGL LAN in Manchester, I've been working on a program called the "Slowturn Checker".
(some vets might remember a post a year ago about it)

What it does is pretty simple, it checks your Gamepads for any Slowturn.
Its nothing too complicated, and infact I probably spent more time making the program presentable and "pretty" than developing the actual Slowturn code.

The Program shows you in which Axis' you have Slowturn in, across both Controllers.
So it tells you if you have Slowturn in the Up/Down/Left/Right of both thumbsticks.

Obviously, if you have really severe Slowturn you might just be able to guess where you need to fix it, and the program could be completely void for you.
But in most cases users are quiet unaware in what Directions they have Slowturn, and just how bad it is.
For casual players this usually isnt a problem, but for those who compete at a competitive level, they know that perfect aim is a must.

The "Slowturn Checker" was developed to help all individuals fix their Slowturn.
The theory is simple:

Plug in and test your Controller using the App, then make a note of where the Slowturn occurs.
Fixing the problem is a quiet simple process, and just comes down to sanding down the affected areas.

Ive made a full video guide here to show you, it covers all areas from taking apart your controller, to putting it back together.

Its quiet important to state: you only need to sand down the areas where you have Slowturn. Dont sand down "everything" unless you need to. its a waste of time.

hers also a step by step guide

1. Check your pad for Slowturn

2. Make a note which areas are affected, write it down on a piece of paper.

3. Get some sanding paper and a screwdriver.

4. Take out all screws from the Controller

5. Place all buttons, screws and plastic bits in a save area.

6. Using the notes you took, sand down the controller where it needs to be sanded.

6-part 2. Occasionally, reset the Slowturn stats by pushing (A)
Then place the top half onto the controller (no need to put the buttons in) as if you were putting it all back together again.
Check for Slowturn again by moving your thumbsticks.
repeat this until you have all Stats at 100%

then::::

7. place all buttons/plastic back into place on the top half of the controller.

8. Make sure the "vibration" weights are stuck properly in place, and that the large middle grey piece is attached to the bottom piece of the controller (this helps keep the weights stay in place)

9. attach the Bumpers/RB/LB to the top half of the controller (the bit you have just sanded)

10. hold the Bottom half of the controller vertical.

11. grab the Top half by its side, using your thumb and index finger, slowly attach to controller making sure everything is fitting in perfectly

12. you may need to attempt that a million times until you get it right!

13. Make sure the bottom and top halfs are firmly placed together

14. Check once more that the Slowturn is cured. and only then screw the pieces together

15. enjoy!

  • @gunnarbjarkihallgrim thanks man, standard fish-eye for skating :D

  • how do you know how much to sand? my new wired is 91 down but my wireless is all 100

  • @MyGameAddiction generally speaking, i would say about 1mm, maybe two max!

what i did was sand it down a tiny bit, put the case back on (only with the thumbsticks in place) and check if i had sanded enough.

if i still had slowturn, i sanded more, tried it again on the App

rince and repeat until its perfect :)

  • Genuis! I shall purchase it thanks :D

Nice video, and app, I've bought it :) tested 4 controllers (3 of which produced horrible results), one is near on perfect, and that's my only wired one so I'm happy as it is going to the next ECL :)

I'm sure that you can plug your controller into your computer and check something to do with joysticks, but can't quite remember what it was mentioned in some thread on the MLG forums at least!

    Get that Superstrafe thing going
