I haven't formed a strong opinion on Bill Cooper's work yet. But his avuncular nature, his biblical references, and most of all his naval intelligence background make me think his material should at least be questioned. This site challenges his stuff:

when i was young my friend brought me to the masons and i became one

they never explained what it was so i didnt know i quit soon after joining
