Newt Gingrich pledges MOON BASE by 2020

Hopeful Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has tried a new groundbreaking tactic to win voters - by promising to be the 1st President to establish a permanent US base on the Moon by 2020 if he is elected.

He told an enthusiastic crowd near the Kennedy Space Centre, on Florida's so-called Space Coast, that he wants to build a unique commercial space industry that can enjoy the kind of boom airlines saw in the 1930s.
Republican Mr Gingrich, who is battling other powerful and popular candidates for the top 2012 job at the White House, also wants to expand the exploration of the planet Mars.

Newts a MORON. Google the space treaty. Pleas vote this up. The treaty explicitly forbids any government from claiming a celestial resource such as the Moon or a planet, claiming that they are the Common heritage of mankind. Art. II of the Treaty states that "outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means".
