This video shows the sudden buildup of a cumulonimbus cloud one afternoon this past summer. The clouds had been building up all afternoon, but were being contained by a capping lid. One cell managed to breach through the capping lid and rapidly built up in what seemed to be just a few minutes.

The view is from The City of Red Deer Civic Yards looking North.

This was filmed on July 8, 2009 at 100x real time.

  • Excellent time lapse video of the beautiful clouds ! Fascinating to watch !

    Thank you for posting :)

  • @Jazzgirl8888 Thanks again for the comments, and for watching!

  • Wow...amazing video!

  • Thanks! We had a few weeks of somewhat unstable weather this past summer.

  • Nice capture of the evolution of an active sky.

  • Thanks! This was really just an extraction from an all day video. The skies were completly clear in the morning. But to show all that would have meant a fairly long video.
