I simply just think that everyone that can work - should.
I know so many people who are just darn lazy! It makes me sick!
Meanwhile I pay crazy taxes on an already tiny wage after spending loads on a degree I couldn't afford which I will now be paying back for a great deal of time!
Sorry, rant over. It just annoys me tis all.

cont.. to basically leave those who are poor to fend for themselves so much is not really the act of a civilised country and also it lacks moral direction and is a poor example to other countries. It sort of appears to me that The US is sort of like a child given alot of power and not really knowing how to handle it in a mature and responsible way. It is sad that in 2010 many Americans seem to equate fairness for all with being a communist. The American thinking on this is wrong.

I live in Britain where we have the NHS. My view is that those who 'can' shouldnt be so resentful about helping those who 'cant'. Survival of the fittest happens in the animal kingdom but for humans who are more sentient, we should be aiming for strong people helping those who are weaker. A cavat to this off course would be those who 'wont' is not the same as those who 'cant' and those people should be given a kick up the backside. For the richest country in the world

I also live in california and have seen more people desperate to get a job than people who just give up

@AmgdxMain I still remember going to the hospital there... It was a pain.

I would like to add this (just to voice my oppinion): Here we have about 30% tax on our monthly income, and yes i personally think it is a a bit steep, but then again... we do have some of the best healthcare in the world. Social welfare is a bit rampant here, but there really is no other solution since there are not enough jobs for everyone (AT THE MOMENT). That though, will change as the market recovers.

Sometimes, (when I have a job) and I see people asking for change, I catch myself thinking " these people should find a job and not waste their time doing this" but the problem is these people have no hope. What they need is for someone to tell them "I need you to do this job for me and I will give you some compensation in return" and as long as the job isn't too odious they will probably do it.

@DeraJa How do you mean destroy then environment? Do you mean that we don't do this with industries?
And yes, they should be dependent of the state, we all are.. That's the reason why we have the government.

i pretty much agree.... Thanks!
It seems to me like a question of money vs. someones life....
I just don't get how people can put money before someone's well being.
your analysis is completely subjective and arbitrary.

So why punish the rich to even out the economy
It is sickening to see all the homeless people, however it bugs me to see them just sitting at a curb asking for change. SINCE this is time that they are wasting, i mean they could be using this time to look for a job. i know its not morale but it is the truth.

It's not a matter of punishing the rich, it's a matter of encouraging a healthy economy. If the separation between the rich and the poor get too great, the economy suffers.
And during the recession, simply finding a job was no easy task.

You mention that a select group have alot of money helps research & development, investment, and so on, and thus it's a good thing to have a select group with more money to spur this on, but I don't agree with that.

It has shown to be positive for the economy and overall well-being of a country when a country a bit too equal allows the financial sector to grow stronger (allowing conglomeration, reducing restrictions, etc). I do not have these studies in front of me however so I cannot back this data up.
