Miley lets out a small puff of air as she slides down beside Crystal on her bed. Kicking off her shoes, she turns onto her back, tapping her fingers against her thigh.
Crystal laughs lightly. Flipping a page in the fashion magazine she was reading, she glances up at Miley, before back to the page. "What's up, girl? Hey, aren't this adorable?" She gushes suddenly, shoving the magazine in Miley's face and pointing excitedly to a pair of black ankle high boots.
Sitting up, Miley crosses her legs under herself. "Yeah, they're cute."
Crystal grins. "I am so going to get a pair." She licks her thumb slightly before flicking over to the next page.
Miley nudges her knee into Crystal's shoulder. "I'm sorry for acting so strange earlier at school."
"It's alright." Crystal gives Miley a reassuring smile.
Miley nods slowly, and glances away nervously. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, her finger awkwardly scratches at her chin. "So, um, I kind of, might of, told Nick about Ryan." She finishes her sentence off quickly, refusing to meet Crystal's gaze.
Crystal's mouth fell agape, and her finger strayed in mid-air as she stared with wide eyes at Miley. She slowly sits up, and grips Miley's shoulders. Her mouth opens to say something, but then clamps shut again. Her eyebrows come down together, and she nibbles on her lower lip, unsure of what to say. "You mean, Ryan, as in freshman year?"
Miley cocks her head to the side, rolling her eyes. Of course that's who she met. It was the only boy she even associated with in freshman year. "Crystal," was all she says, letting out a tedious sigh.
"Okay, okay," Crystal nods, averting her eyes before bringing them back to Miley. Her hazel eyes were still widened in disbelief, and Miley tucks her hand under her thigh, resisting the urge to smack her best friend.
"Crystal," Miley exclaims, throwing her hands up after Crystal remained silent, still staring at her for another two minutes. "Stop staring at me like that, and just say something." She lets out a heavy breath, crossing her arms stubbornly.
"I'm sorry." She frowned, and rested a gentle hand on Miley's shoulder. "It's just hard to believe. You don't really open up to people, expect for me. I'm the only one you talked to about Ryan; everyone else only knows you dated. I mean, seriously! And you tell Nick? You guys hardly get along! It's just shocking, sorry."
"I know. I still can't believe it myself." Miley pushes her hair out of her face angrily. "We were high, but in some way, I still knew what I was doing. Is it weird that I feel like I can trust him?"
"Are you still sleeping with him?"
Miley's eyes widened slightly, and she looked away, hoping to hide the hot blush that swept over her cheeks. "Um, kind of?"
"Miley-"
"Are you talking about me?" Came an amused, teasing voice and both heads snapped quickly to the open door of Crystal's bedroom. Nick leaned back against the doorway, his arms crossed lazily over his chest. His eyebrows were raised.
"What? No." Crystal laughed nervously, waving a dismissive hand at her twin brother. Pushing herself up, she gives Miley a desperate look, before sliding past Nick. "I'm going to use the bathroom!"
Miley cowered against the bed, staring nervously at Nick. Her teeth scrap over her bottom lip, and she cursed the irregular beat of her heart, when Nick asked in a sultry voice, "Want to get out of here, Princess?"
