  • He's actually kind of correct.

We Americans brought the designers of the Yak-141 to the U.S. to consult on the F-35. Of course, ours in much more elegant, maneuverable, versatile, and takes advantage of American miniaturization and modularization technologies, but Russian engineers were involved at the very earliest stages of the airframe design.

I wish the translation of the intelligence report was better, but it looks like the Russians are drawing conclusions w/o seeing the production A/C.

  • These fighters are all iterations on a theme.

They perform the same roles and as such, have similar design goals and surprise, similar designs!

The only truly unique airframe design of recent times is the Su-47. It is an actual paradigm shift. The rest can be put down to "want to go faster?" = "Bigger delta sweep!" and other such requirements that ultimately, produce similar results

Videos like this are just some overly patriotic idiot claiming his country is the best and invented everything.

  • Riiiiight... and the Buran looked NOTHING like the space shuttle, Stalin never reverse engineered confiscated B29s, the Brits didn't supply Russia with engines that ended up copied and put in the Mig15 and Soviets didn't spend the cold war driving around in copy and paste Fords, Fiats and Chevys.

I don't see much Russian influence in the F35 when you look at recent US and Russian 'planes. I do think some amazing aircraft came from behind the Iron Curtain, btw., but don't see your point here.

  • Well shit... they used the A5-J as the base for the Mig 25...

    We all copy...

  • @plasmahawk Better yet, just post a link to the website instead of flashing pages past in a video. But then I am also tired of everything any American does being dragged down as a "copy." In aerospace, certain forms are favored because they are better and not always because X fighter also looks like that. It just happens that the Russians hit on a good design. We independantly hit on the same design and added stealth to it.

  • @Nonicknameleftforme Okay take a look at the F-15C. Air Superiority fighter. MiG-29. Air Superiority with bombing thrown in as an afterthought. Same friggin roles.

  • @dixievfd55 What?! MiG-29 resembles an F-15?! I don't think so. And they don't carry out the same roles.

  • @chris2002Rocklin There is a reason why the two craft are similar. They both have similar roles only the F-35 is stealthy and the Freestyle isn't. If you look closely at some other Russian fighters you might notice the MiG-29 resembles an F-15 and carries out the same roles, too.

  • another cold war, russia's going to fall down like it always has
