Part of the Stratford / London 2012 site under construction, as seen from a passing Overground / North London Line train. Filmed 14th September 2009.

For train buffs: this was filmed from one of the new class 378 Overground trains, and for a very short while we also see the side of an older class 313 train.

It is hoped that the rise in sea levels will not have been so significant that the Olympic site will be flooded. The site is on low-lying ground very close to a river (the Lea) and global sea levels are rising - faster than the media tells us! (they dont want to frighten people / cause alarm)

People wishing to make the same journey themselves should note that this route only operates spasmodically; its usually closed at weekends and come 2010 will be closing completely for many months.

  • it may beclosing for months but the improvements it will bring will be worht waitintg

  • but it will create massive inconvenience and cost passengers money - especially since passengers pay less to travel around London on this line rather than through central London.

This will be something like the third major closure in the past couple of decades... similar to the east London line.

  • I wonder if the western side of the Circle Line will be closed for 18 months to lengthen the platforms and make the stations with short platforms suitable for the longer S Stock trains which wil soon be entering service? Or will the inconvenience to the travelling public be deemed to be 'too severe'?

  • This bit is open but often closed on Sunday for works & in 2011 we will see the East London Line extended into Highbury & Islington, also the DLR should be running into the International Station along with Westfield being open.

I saw a foto of S stock at a station so I guess the first ones are being delivered now.

  • hmmmm could be interesting

  • i don't know how they will lengthen the platforms at hammersmith without altering the depot
