  • Yeah they should not add to scripture. Right on! they are worshiping a man rather then God.

  • @sixthheretic Yes they are. The church elders seem to be their Gods, when they claim they are worshiping the True God. Personally, I think it's easier to worship God rather than some man. I am glad I have not decided to go the route. :D

  • I go to a Mennonite church. I was not raised Mennonite or Amish. All I can tell you is the women are so beautiful and it's their joy that shines through. It doesn't seem to matter if they are old or young, a little on the heavy side or slender. I am still studying but I just like the feel. I think God puts you where you need to be. Stay close to the Lord as you are learning and things should be OK.

  • Yes, there are some things I like abt the Amish/Mennonites: their desire to live their lives in purity is attractive. However the most important thing you can do in your life, is to get Biblically Saved & know 100% sure you are going to heaven: Where there is no more pain, & everything godly to gain & purity as God intends it to be in Heaven.

  • My young friend, you are specializing in fine points, and without knowing the reasons for them. First, people need to find Christ and get saved. That is always first, regardless of church. Now go to the library and check out AMISH GRACE. After the part about the school tragedy, it explains much of what you seek. And, wherever you worship, you are putting yourself under their authority. If you don't like it, don't go there. And yes headcoverings are scriptural, no matter what kind you choose.

  • Dear you need some experience first as you have not seen anything...to young...

  • your pretty deep for such a young woman.. i watched a few of your videos.. very interesting.. it intresting to watch your journey.. i think your on the right track w your views on religion and man made rules.. the truth is you may not be able to find a religion that alighn you w the Spirit, but you seem to be able to do it on your own... just my humble opinion.. very impressive

  • So you were not raised amish or mennonite like me ?

  • I lived with the Amish and can say that most of their philosophies and disciplines are very sound and respectful compared to "Engish" ways; however, their basis odf Christian practice is very unbiblical. The dress, the carriages, no tv and no phones are their attempt to maintain community and family..and it works. The foundations of good and solid family values cant be compared to many American cultures. They dislike charisma in a very big way when it comes to being a Christian.

  • I would like to hear what you're saying but I can barely hear you, even with both volume settings all the way up. Partly that's because I have a Thinkpad, and the sound with Thinkpads is just not loud enough. Partly the volume of your video is not loud enough.

Well, best wishes to you. You sound very intelligent and thoughtful.

  • I was born and raised Amish. It is a RELIGION. and what trype of amish you are speaking about?, old order, new order, new new order, etc. There are even many kinds of old order. If you do not believe in JESUS, you would make a poor Amish person. The new order and new new order and well as the tobe new order, will have phones, tractors as well as electricity . Making a blanketg statement of amish, is saying all mennonites are the same, which is far from the truth.

  • Hi KJesusRocks,

I've been aspiring to join a very conservative Mennonite church for about 6 years. I've been questioning a lot of the same things as you. Coming from a church that had no standards at all I have a great appreciation for the standards of the Mennonite church I attend. I don't find them restrictive but rather as a guide to follow. But leadership is essential, and if the leaders are not humble I can understand your frustration. Keep questioning and stay close to the Lord.
