Nuclear meltdown as in fukushima compared to chernobyle
The nuclear disaster in fukushima are as fatal as chernnobyle nuclear meltdown. Only the people in the government would not let you know the truth to prevent panic and part of damage control strategy with regards to their nuclear industry and the world nuclear atomic agency.
The meltdown and nuclear explosion in former russia under the time president gorbachev was kept under tight secrecy. People who were assigned as bio liquidators for the cleanup of the radiation waste were not even aware of the kind of danger they were exposed too. Sure the workers of liquidators were assigned as bio robots and praise as hero . A total of 500,000 military personnel among civillians liquidators who worked on the chernobyle nuclear waste cleanup and disposal, died and eventually died of cancer related disease Most of the resident in the area of exposure also suffered of thyroid cancer and died.
Liquidators who went on the rooftop for the clean up were assigned a rotating task of just about 3 minutes of exposure, because anything above 5 minutes will melt away your body and therefore instant dead. So you see, there were about 500,000 liquidators, and each working for a minumum time of exposure to the cleanup area of graphite contaiminant for about 3 minutes and though wearing protective layers and facial mask. Imagine these gigantic task to save the whole of russia and europe from the risk of another nuclear explosion. Workers were sent down the pit of the nuclear reactors to cool it, by digging under it a tunnels to cool the reactors with nitrogen gas. Most of the workers who went under the pit, died of nuclear radiations and other related disease.Just imagine, even helicopters assigned to the rooftop to lift up nuclear contaminated graphite core melted and was pulled down under intense heat of radiations.
The results of the nuclear fallout, causes the release three poisonous waste products, namely cesium, iodine and plutonium. Whie iodine has a shell life of 7-12 days,but the same were not for cesium and plutionium. Cesium will be fatal and remained in the environment for 300 years or so and so wil be plutonium . As a result today , the area around 6o miles radius of the epic centre of chernobyle remained a wastelands. Foods , flowers, animals and every edible produce of the dairy products are contaminated with cesium . The buildings are also contaminated and no one dared to live in them. Animals that still around the area was forcibly shot to prevent contact with another uncontaminated animals. Its like a chain reactions of contaminants.
Babies born after the fallout of chernobyle nuclear disaster were deformed, having strange and defective forms, and some even mental retardations. People exposed within the radius of 60 kilometres from the nuclear meltdown reactors all suffered some kind of cancer related diseases. And if they have unknowingly consumed fruits and dairy products from within the exposure zone will also suffer from thyroid glands cancer. So when you look at this sceniario,no civilised citizen would want their government to use nuclear powers for their electiric needs when they are so much of alternative energies like wind,solar,and coal power.
What happen now in fukushima is the same, only things is that big interest groups of nuclear industry , and powerfull government utilities, and the government itself withheld certain important informtions from the public. A meltdown is a meltdown, and you can call it by whatever name. Because of a meltdown, there was explosions, and the byproducts of this nuclear explosion released three poisonous element of cesium,iodine, and plutionium. So the foods chain in japan and thier enviroment will be contaminated for 300 years or so which make thier industrial products and edible produce highly suspect of cesium contaminations.
Of course, they playdown the effects of contaminated sea water from the leakages that flows through the directions of sea. Those who depends on fishery industries will be crippled because any catch will be contaminated as well near the vicinity of japanese waters. Of course the effects nuclear waste poisoning would not be felt in the open sea some 200 or 300 miles of the coast of japan. Fishes harvested or caught around japan coastline are highly suspect of nuclear poisoning that could be fatal for consumptions.

As of a weel or two ago it appears that one or more 'missing' cores are subject to intemittant criticality as evident in release & detection of short-lived radioactive decay isotopes, so 'cold shutdown' may well be a PR pipedream. Also, it may be that melted cores have a thick upper-crust of slag that prevents effective heat-transfer cooling while lowest parts are in direct contact with & melting vulnerable concrete containment -- so breakthru may STILL be possible, ie. this is FAR from over.
