The American Civil War is one of the most tragic events in modern history. I have no words to describe this beautiful song, but I think its message of " redemption" fits perfectly with the redemptive nature of this war.

They should show the shit that went on BEFORE the Civil War -- the whippings, rapes, torture, of slaves. Selling children. They should show Lee, Davis and the other sociopaths raping their slaves and then selling their OWN children from those rapes into slavery. They should show the auctions of slave children, the whipping of the mothers, the cattle drives of children chained together, forced to walk hundreds of miles to the deep south. Show the shit that caused the war. Show reality.

@FarceTax Very sorry for the late reply, my friend. This video is obviously not about slavery in America, which I believe is a shameful and repugnant stain on our history. My focus was to illustrate the tragic aspect of this war, using my limited resources and the 5:34 min. time frame that the song affords me. If I ever make a video about slavery, then all or most points you brought up will be included in it.

if things were as bad in the south as farcetax presents, then why were there not more slave revolts...there was only one, and blacks outnumbered whites 10 to 1....in haiti, the blacks ran the french off the island 200 years ago...in most russian provinces there were serf revolts every 5-10 years...so why were conditions in the south so tranquil...perhaps they weren't so bad and perhaps we're getting prejudiced information from all you revisionist liberals...your views are getting old

The war between the states was caused by Abraham Lincoln, no one else. It could have been prevented. Slavery did not cause that war, it was used as a reason to start it. Lincoln was just as racists as the slave owners, if not more. Don't believe me? Then stay off WIKIPEDIA and study the books for yourself!
