Lizzie waits until Bill returns and throws flowers at him when he walks in. He admits that he's been sleeping with Ava, but only because he has no feeling for her, he explains. Lizzie is the only one he has feelings for, he clarifies. "Why are we always fighting and we're never together?" she asks before they leap into bed. Later, she asks him if he's going to start feeling trapped again and look for reasons to keep away from here. He might like her, but he doesn't seem to like being close to her. "We can't keep doing this," he says before asking her to move in with him. She's thrilled and starts to giggle.

Josh finds Beth trying to call Phillip. He asks her to join him for a piece of pie. He later returns home to Cassie's where he finds Olivia waiting for him. He offers her some pie and asks her why she's there. "I want you to marry me," she says. He jokingly reminds his ex-wife that he's currently married. She tells him she wants him to marry her to Gus. He cuts her some pie and tells her that Gus isn't divorced yet and he can't perform a fake marriage. She doesn't have time to go the legal way, she blurts out, putting down her fork and walking away.

At Cedars, Beth and Lillian finish having pie together. When she walks to the babysitter, she discovers that Peyton has gone missing. She calls Alan, who immediately runs out of the courtroom, despite the judge's protests. After the trial, Dinah asks Jeffery if nailing Alan felt good. She starts to question him about the charges and it becomes obvious that she knows too much. When he questions her, she plays dumb until he walks away. Meanwhile, Alan has run to Cedars to see Beth. He wants to call the police but Lillian walks out with the baby in her arms. Beth and Alan are relieved and Dinah smugly listens close by.

Ava returns to the courthouse and Gus tells her that the trial didn't go well. She asks him about Olivia. He says spending time with her makes him happy. He returns to the mansion when Beth and Alan walk in. He tells his father that there is nothing he can do to help him now. Alan tells him to go and check on Olivia and then they will look after things together. Once Gus leaves, Alan tells Beth that she should take the children and leave town. Obviously someone is after them and they need to avoid their pursuers. She says she won't leave without Rick. He tells her that he won't leave without her and Peyton. Meanwhile, Olivia caresses a wedding dress when Jeffrey comes to the door. She starts to cry to him and wishes she had more control over her life and feelings. She says it would be nice to have a ceremony with Gus, even if it isn't legal. "We all need what we need," he says, offering to perform the ceremony for her.
