O Röschen rot!
Der Mensch liegt in größter Not!

Urlicht (aus Des Knabens Wunderhorn), Vaclav Neumann Conducting The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Eva Randova - Contralto. Composer - Gustav Mahler

  • I can live without many things, but I simply cannot imagine my life without Gustav and his magnificent Lieder ...

  • One of the best pieces of music Mahler ever wrote! And I like this particular recording by Vaclav Neumann - it has nobility and a majestic honorable feel to it, yet also the warmth and delicacy embedded in the original score... very much out of this world (IMHO, I highly recommend this recording of his 2nd to all Mahler's fans)

  • @TheDusio The same for me. Mahler grips me like no other composer does. Indispensable!

  • Respond to this video...

another grave mistake : 4:33 ...she sings: " bis AN das" it must be "bis in das"

in das ewig selig Leben makes sense, an das ewig selig Leben is total bullshit.

  • I cannot pardon the singer singing: "vellieber moecht ich im Himmel sein!(2:03) vell and viel are totally different feelings. Let her study german before!

  • @HaloReachBetrayals

    He is...resurrected

  • So beautiful...Wish he was still alive.. :(

  • I like this recording, except for the oboe part. It is played too clumsy, it needs more delicacy. The singing is exceptional though!

  • I have a very soft spot for this recording. It was my first Mahler 2 on CD (it must have been cheap). Wonderful performing tradition in Prague. Nice bright brass, and dark woodwinds, and a great hall to record in. Just what I need sometimes. Other times, not so much, but that's what choice is about.

  • Christian Gerhaher is much better!

  • I cannot listen to the 1st minute of this without weeping, smiling, getting goosebumps, and feeling like the sun.
