A four note picking sequence used with pentatonic scale patterns for guitar. Great for developing alternate picking and fingering technique, speed, and phrasing. Suitable for players who have already master the three note picking sequence taught in the DVD below.

  • If you are going to use a substitute finger I feel work on using your pinky. If you are not used to playing with your pinky, I can take some practice. It will pay off and you will be a better player for putting in the effort.

  • @rsothe3rd I don't agree. Use a fingering that works best for you. I was trained to use my pinky and played with it for years until I realized I play much better substituting another finger. Many players, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen, and Eric Johnson do most of their scale/solo work with three fingers.

  • You yourself should practice more often on the other four boxes for the pentatonic, don´t you agree? (to uploader). Me too (Of course I agree with myself, I meant should practice).

  • @rsothe3rd Completely agree... not with you. Instead of me writing any further, just read again what the uploader replied to you.

  • Why are two of my hands playing guitar and the other two are typing this message...

  • if your ascending in groups of four try starting with an upstroke followed by two downstrokes then two up strokes, two downstrokes etc... etc. Descending you start with a downstroke then two upstrokes and two downstrokes (reverse of ascending) Essentially you are saving yourself two strokes if you were to purely alternate pick a four note pentatonic lick.

  • idk, substituting the middle finger might not be the best technique here. I can totally blaze this lick descending as fast as anyone (except maybe John Sykes) with just my index and ring finger during the middle part, so I know ascending that way just as fast is just a matter of time/practice.

  • I can't catch what he's doing with the middle finger because of the camera angle :-(

  • POV...This camera view is the greatest. It improves porn, too.

  • Guitar Lesson With alfred Hitchcock Camera Angeling.. . Hmmmm
