1995 Orion 05.501 #455: Part I

MTA New York City Transit Bus 1995 Orion 05.501 "V" #455 on the Bx10 from 238 Street & Bailey Avenue to Van Cortlandt Avenue West & Bailey Avenue. This bus has a Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine with DDEC mated to an Allison B400R4 ATEC automatic transmission. This bus is nice because of the whistling sound it makes. Sounds a little bit like a CNG. Along with the others in the set of 452-458, 455 was originally a Jackie Gleason (Brooklyn) bus when delivered in 1995. Maybe someone in Gleason accidentally put CNG fuel in the bus, since Gleason is an all-CNG depot these days. YAY 8/14/2008
