Originally from Detroit, transplanted to the Los Angeles music scene as a teenager, then to Boston, and now back in Michigan, Mikal is an uncommon, modern pop/rock artist who doesn't subscribe to the common misconception that a solo artist must fall into the oft-cliche'd 'singer/songwriter' style that we have all grown used to. One of the great things about being a solo artist is the freedom that it brings, allowing the artist to write and perform however they choose. It is the ability to play an intimate and dimly lit show with an acoustic guitar and a string trio one night, then turn around and play a full out rock show the very next night that makes Mikal such an attraction to clubs and campuses across the US, Canada and the UK.

Mikal has received 24 Detroit Music Award nominations, including 16 in one year, which has only been accomplished by one other artist.

Mikal is a Taylor Artist (Taylor Guitars).

Stay tuned for a rare and possibly unprecedented approach to a debut release. Shortly, Mikal will release two, yes TWO debut albums. The first is a four song e.p., titled "Only Enemies Tell The Truth Friends And Lovers Lie Endlessly", recorded with acoustic guitars and a string section. The second is a full length rock/pop album entitled "Soundtrack From A Happy Ending", which combines Mikal's large cache of influences of everything from The Beatles to Michael Jackson to Weezer and The Killers.

Mikal performs either with a full band (rock show), solo acoustic, as an acoustic duo, or acoustic with a string section.
