Pacific Countries to Support Fiji request to South Pacific Forum to allow for elections in 2013. MSGTVNEWS's live Report from Port Vila Vanuatu by Political Commentator and Regional Expert Sum Sum Norbert who explains reasons why the leaders of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu have given their full backing to an attempt to have Fiji's suspension from the Pacific Islands Forum lifted.
Norbert explains some of the key fundamental democratic reform measures seen necessary by Fijian citizens such as equality in voting and Government corruption.
International News Networks have explained the Australian Pacific News version of the situation which has focussed on the military coup. However, the MSG TV NEWS report shows that there are fundamental structural problems with the Fijian democratic system and Bainimarama needs this period until 2013-2014 to rectify this in what has been called the "Fiji Charter".
This report suggests that larger countries and the heavy weights of the Pacific Islands Forum, Australia and New Zealand, need to stop making international obstructions and portray Bainimarama as doing a bad thing when now even leaders such as Vanuatu's Prime Minister Edward Natapei and Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, as well as citizens such as Norbert, are convinced that some of Commodore Bainimarama's plans were good for Fiji.
