    A thing about Rodriguez that is there inside his music in a mysterious way is him as a person. After finding that he had spend decades doing some of the most difficult hard labor as others made money off of his recordings he just marveled at the richness of the world and pointed out that the labor he did was honorable and he was fine with it.  I feel like he is calling me on my own BS and the fact that there does not seem to be any of him that is a hypocrite propels his music to another place.

    The thing about this song is that it works both ways...You can express these sentiments towards yourself or verbalise them to others. I think that is why people resonate to the lyrics...Timeless.

    WOW WOW & WOW so glad I stumbled upon his documentary "Searching for Sugar Man"  Who the hell knew there was such a gifted, humble, prodigious adept & consummate artist like Rodriguez. My my, what we've all missed out for all of these years.

    I couldn't have said it better...I feel the same way exactly! "Crucify Your Mind" is beautifully and eerily familiar somehow, and I instantly fell in love with it. This song is timeless; and the lyrics are genius...nothing short of a masterpiece.

    Yup, it sounds like Lucinda Williams took the melody of every stanza exactly as Rodriguez sang it...but her song lacks direction and falls flat.
