Canon XF305 and Sony EX1R side by side tests

Here are some clips shot with both the Canon XF305 and Sony EX1R. I have also included some shots done with a NanoFlash at 50Mb/s and 100Mb/s for comparison. Overall there is little to choose between the cameras. One point I would raise: Don't mistake Noise for resolution! Looking at the trees and foliage the XF305 at first glance appears to be sharper, but look more closely, is it real detail or just very fine noise that gives the impression of more detail? The close up split screen of the car is more telling. The 305 looks soft compared to the EX1R, but this is the very same clip as the close up foliage and sky footage.
The XF305 Noise is more visible than the EX1R's noise. I have not made any actual measurements, but I prefer the EX1R. The EX1R is also 1.5 stops more sensitive.

@sawyerfrye You cant judge this by watching it as a compressed youtube file. The HD Stream of the Canon XF 305 looks marvellous way better then this video.

+ u really loose noise with higher birates codecs : compression is not a noiseless operation, its a noise hazardous "creative" one.

For 10,000 Aus dollars for the XF305... Would much rather buy the Canon 1Ds Mk IV instead. Much better image quality than this. Might not get the same auto controls and the amateurs much beloved auto focussing but I am sure ya'll can manage. These cameras are seriously only good for television broadcasting. Nothing else besides that considering the price, though unsure about how much EX1R costs...
