Army rebuilding bridge destroyed by terrorists

The Army Engineering Force is reconstructing the bridge across the Nayaru Estuary on the KokkuthuduwaiMullaitivu main road. It has been destroyed by the terrorists.

there is evidence to indicate that the LTTE is not only an enemy of the Tamil people but the entire population. It is confirmed in the manner in which the terrorists had destroyed the national assets. The LTTE had destroyed the bridge completely. They had blasted two places of the bridge. The terrorists had expected the Security Forces to advance from the South towards the North. One of their aims was to retain the coastline off Chemmalai and Alampil to protect Mullaitivu. It did not realize. There were bunkers built with rocks near the Nayaru bridge. The destruction of these bunkers was also part of the LTTE strategy. The bunkers could be accessed from the road that runs across the Nayaru lagoon. The front area was clearly visible from these bunkers.
