Yes and no. Although deep space missions are exciting and bring new tech to the forefront as well as prestige, the fact is we need to be able to to get to and from earth orbit effectively lowing the cost of manned deep space mission is the priority. Launching from earth orbit or lunar orbit will help. Once facilites are established deep space is a matter of choosing destination

Its time for deep space missions. Obama wants Nasa to land on an Asteroid so lets see it. I want to see new technologies used--not the same old close Earth orbit flyby's.

Ok we have heard the propaganda over and over again. They know what we can do and who we can do it with. My questions are for NASA and the fed is when are we going to see it? When we are we going to get it done? Everything is in place, so when are we flying???

Why do you expect mr. president to make plan for NASA, neither in the past any president of USA had been trained to make plan for NASA nor will be in the future.NASA has one of the strongest team for making the future plan.

@xd40guy The most stupid comments I have ever found on youtube. NASA is the agency which is funded by the government. Unlike any other government agency, NASA make's it's own plan within. President's job is not to make plan for NASA rather approve it by providing enough budget. you get it right.

NASA's plan, not OBAMA's. Get it right,

If you want to be philosophic, sure. Everything that's shoved down our throat without a thought about critisism is propaganda. Things that are not linked to "reality", like your McDonalds example, that says their food are healthy, is propaganda. Or maybe every point of view is some kind of propaganda ? Frankly, I don't think so.
Oribtal Sciences, The Space Ship Company, Armadillo Aerospace, Masten Aerospace, Up Aerospace, Lockheed Martin , United Launch Alliance, SpaceX, ULA,, ATK, Bigelow Aerospace, Zero G, Oribital Outfitters, Xcor, Pratt & Whitley, & Armadillo Aerospace. Most nations have 1 space program, the US has over a dozen.

Supporters of human space exploration have been worked up about canceling Constellation, primarily because an alternative wasn't clearly outlined. This change in course could have been handled much better. One thing both Director Bolden and President Obama should have done was apologize for poorly handling something that is so important to so many people. Hopefully more detail is forthcoming. A 30 speech and 13 minute video isn't enough.
