Building Consensus: Quarry Falls follows the efforts of the Grant family of San Diego and Sudberry Properties as they seek community consensus on a plan for their 230-acre sand and gravel mine in Mission Valley. Supporters describe Quarry Falls as a model for green, sustainable, mixed-use urban development. And, if the San Diego City Council approves Quarry Falls, the Grants would donate additional land for a Discovery Center on the San Diego River. But critics fear that the Quarry Falls plan, like many before it, would fall short of its promise -- instead, delivering more of what Mission Valley needs least -- shopping malls, condos and traffic. Hopefully Quarry Falls will set the pattern very much needed in central San Diego...people need to start walking more, too many cars! Plus its an exciting and thrilling project.

Mission Valley is already a mess, so Quarry Falls will just finish it off---at least in a positive way! Leaving the land empty is not really an option, so might as well develop it! I think the plan as it stands is fine... it's a good mix of retail, parks, residential, and public services. As long as improvements to the traffic infrastructures are made (by funds from the project) it makes sense! The Grant's are "doing the right thing" and Sudberry seems genuine... Thank you!
