Bromine & Alcohol

Here's an example of what happens when you mix BROMINE and alcohol...NOT CHLORINE --- produces Hydrobromine (In acid form it is one of the strongest Mineral Acid/stronger than Hydrchloric Acid)
NO...that's not a burn on my hand, it's just the lighting/camera angle
NO...don't put that in a bottle and use it for a bomb
NO...it didn't melt the glass container
NO...it's not safe.

To answer everyone's questions i shall sum this all up. The tablet he puts in the glass container is not bromine its either potassium/sodium bromide . The gas produced is Hydrogen Bromide (HBr) and the left over liquid is Hydrobromic Acid (HBr) which is extremely corrosive more corrosive than hydrohloric acid. Hope this helped.

I believe that red fume is elemental bromine (Br2), not HBr. I have seen pure bromine, and it fumes in very much the same manner as that combination of chemicals. By contrast, solutions of either HBr or HCl do not have a great deal of color.
