@LevitatingDuck Look at your denominators when everything is factored out. Then what ever number would make your denominator equal zero is what your restrictions are. If your restriction is one of your final answers, you do not include it because it is "restricted".

okay, I knew how to do all of this, but I was looking for finding restrictions. Such as x (cannot equal) 0, that's for a monomial.

this is really helpful i could never understand what the book said untill u explained it :)
when you cancel out can you only cancel things that are diagonal from eachother?

@LooopQ They don't have to be diagonal, but they DO have to be in opposite positions in a fraction - one from a numerator and one from a denominator.
