@alahad yeah it might be harder with 2 fingers but it can be achieved. thats my only point. a big reason i dont like 3 fingers is that one note alway's sounds abit weaker then the other 2 but i dont know if that matters when you play technical death metal or anything.
i sometimes use 3 finger gallops for songs from Slayer or Iced earth but never with Iron Maiden and 2 fingers just sound better imo.
well... what about old mans child... that band uses a lot of arpeggios... for bass doing them with 2 fingers is not convenient... but yes I use a pick because I like the sound of it... but I think fingers feel better... I dont play with 4 fingers because I broke my hand once... and my pinky has no strenght... and its damn uncomfortable...
3 fingers or 4 just makes it easier to hold great speed but that is also easily accomplished with 2 fingers. at first i tought holy Wars speed wasnt able with only 2 fingers and now i can do it easily. you can practice long enough with 2 fingers to get fast with them. and unless your playing straight notes all the time i se eno use in learnign 3 fingers ''personally'' might aswel use a pick then.
and actually Cliff Burton stretches his pick away from the strings alot. so 4?nah 3?maybe
picking in general... but cliff is well know for using 4 fingers my friend... plus I am not mainly a bassist but a guitarist and also play with 3 fingers... even Vortex from dimmu which is not the greatest bassist plays with 4 fingers sometimes... so... yeah... I dont think 2 fingers is like the BEST technique ever... if you use 4 fingers is like having 2 alternate picks... dont you think?
