NAMM 2009: Sheila E. interview

Sheila E. er især kendt for sin tid med Prince midt i firserne, men er stadig en meget aktiv musiker. Her på videoen med bandet Liyana fra Zimbabwe bestående af handicappede musikere. Derudover har hun gang i sit sit familieband og medvirker også i tv og lancerer sammen med trommefirmaet Toca signatur percussion i hendes navn.

På NAMM 2009 optrådte hun, som sagt, med et band bestående af unge handicappede musikere fra Zimbabwe (Liyana) foran The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, som du vil kunne se mere til i et andet videoindslag.

That is just fantastic! I love how she's playing with those musicians. One thing she taught me when I got lessons was about playing low and listening. Key trait and skill as a drummer. Those type of extemporaneous performances (in this case I think) are what makes NAMM sometimes so exciting and fun! I miss going, I used to see her all the times I went!
