Crime novelist Matt Beynon Rees unveils the dark side of Jesus' birthplace, the Palestinian town of Bethlehem in the West Bank. Rees introduces Omar Yussef, the hero of his Palestinian mystery novel, The Collaborator of Bethlehem, and takes viewers on a tour - not just of the famous Christian sites, but also the violent, dangerous refugee camp where much of the action in his novel take place.

Is there any chance we could entice Sayyid Yusuf up to Nablus? The West Bank's largest city's ancient souk is the perfect setting for a caper spanning Nablus society, from the biggest refugee camp in the West Bank (Balata) to the elite of Nablus. Omar is sure to receive a warm welcome from Al Yasmeen Hotel while he's up north.

Now this is interesting. I'm a big fan of Raymond Chandler and Walter Mosley, partly because they write about a city I love (Los Angeles). Mr. Rees, you may have just gained a fan.
