  • dude, what's up with all these cronkite-haters on here??? people saying he betrayed the president by reporting a fabricated version of the jfk story??? as a person who deeply believes that the kennedy assasinations (BOTH of them) were inside jobs, i still think the heat is on the wrong person here. what the heck does cronkite have to do with any of that??? he was a pro's-pro and did nothing but report as was given to him at the moment and as he had knowledge. hes got nothing to hide.

  • @TheLensSolution Stone has as much to do with telling the true story of the Kennedy assassination as the tooth fairy has to do with dentistry. He is a complete and total fraud - a storyteller yes, a historian, no ...

  • The best newsman ever.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Cronkite was a scumbag. One of the most notorious defenders of the Warren Commission and someone who tried to slander Oliver Stone in the 1990's because Stone, like most Americans, didn't buy the lies of the Warren Commission and had the gall to challenge the Gods like Cronkite and Rather who tried to convince Americans otherwise.

  • The news readers and the MSM have got the JFK case wrong for so long that they can't back away from their screw up now.

If they went on the air and said "We were wrong for 48 years on one of the most important stories of all time" they end up admitting to not knowing their ass from a hole in the ground which is one of the worst things a news outlet can admit to.

  • Cronkite failed his president in this one. Even a house committee years later were convinced that there was a coverup and a sinister plot in Kennedy's murder. No followup at all and this disappoints me no end.

  • Walter was a fine newsreader who did a disservice to his President, accepting a manufactured official story, disregarding the pleas of innocence from the Government's chosen patsy, and dismissing legitimate questions by members of the public not blinded by the deafening fanfare of patriotism. He reported, and was part of, but missed, the defining story of the 20th Century.

  • Cronkite and his heir apparent Dan Rather made several repeated factual errors during the JFK Assassination coverage. This was understandable for the first few hours. But after 24 hours there were glaring factual errors. If you want the most accurate reporting of the JFK assassination as it happened you would have to go with NBC's coverage with Frank McGee, Bill Ryan, and Chet Huntley. Walter Cronkite was an excellent reporter and anchor man but on this story his performance was disappointing!

  • Cronkite was the benchmark to which others are measured..

    He stands alone.
