  • There is no reason to fear death as it is quite painless. It's the dying part that is a real pain.

  • So true.

  • great video on death! Growing up religious it makes perfect sense. However, what would you say to atheists that fear death not because of heaven/hell, but simply the thought of oblivion. When religion no longer amplifies that fear what can you do additionally to help it... for example, thoughts like: "why even do anything if death is inevitable? It's like building a sandcastle on the shoreline." or "i'm not looking forward to the experience of death" or "If energy can't be destroyed... ???"

  • We have a natural desire to live, just like any animal. We are social creatures and do best when we are involved in making meaning within our society. Making meaning is largely what we do. What does that mean? We make meaning in loving our children or grandkids, contributing on the job or to the bowling team, etc. We can also make meaninglessness by focusing on what we are not. Recognizing our mortality takes away the manipulations of religion but shows us how ultimately responsible we are.

  • Religiosity is a mental disease.

  • There is a higher chance of an asteroid hitting your house than religion being true... well said.

  • The entire point of religion is to relieve the fear of death, a natural fear in everyone conscience of it. So I'm gonna have to disagree on that point, However I do find that many religious groups use the fear of death as a tool, which is terrible. But here is the thing, if said person uses fear tactics to gain popularity in their religion, how are they religious? I think the biggest problem isn't religion, it is the people who are corrupt within the religion.

  • Well done Pastor of the truth. I respect people who face reality.

  • The Asteroid Neurosis is very reminiscent of the Cold War fear of a nuclear holocaust. It's very interesting that Fidel Castro recently made a speech in which he said that nuclear war is imminent. It seems that all tyrants try to engender a widespread community of fear.

  • @Parapon3ra

Totally agree. I think we are the only smart people in existence.

  • How in hell could anyone be separated from god!? Wasn't he supposed to be omnipresent!? As usually, theists are entangling themselves into a web of contradictions and non-sensical reasoning :) I almost feel sorry for these brainless creatures. . .

  • yeah and hey you know what, Science can possible Cure death like any other illness Religion try to slow that process because they know that they would lose all there power in bull shit hell because of todays medicine people are living longer and stronger and through science Death will be cured will thats what i think any way cell regen

  • @ Parapon3ra, what planet are you from??? No human has ever been revived from Cyogenic status, we have the technology to freeze but not the technology to revive, lets look at the obstacles, you must thaw all organs instantly, I bet you believe microwaves cook from the inside out, well they do not.

After revival you have a 10 minute window to stave off death of the frozen subject..

    Accept your fate ;)

  • @Parapon3ra

but, it's also stupid to find more ways to load up this earth with more and more people when interstellar travel is still a very long time away..it's a complicated issue..is it more moral to help us survive longer as individuals when all that will do is over populate the world and make life an enormous struggle in 200 years?

  • Bwahahahaha. River in Egypt, meet Parapon3ra.

We're miles away from that kind of technology.
