He's light on the hind, but all weight is on the forehand.
That's why the piaffe is a sit, not a 'stop and push'.

I agree w/ your understanding of a well executed piaffe: it's NOT the result of simultanious breaking and accelerating. You'll notice that I stay completely away from such riding. I also agree that w/ all his elastic forward movement, he already sits down nicely and is NOT out behind.
Waikato has great talent for piaffe/passage and I'm very excited about the progress he'll make over the next months.
BTW, I enjoyed watching you ride. Your horse is light + relaxed and you have a light seat.
