Andrea Bethge, Huntington Beach, CA, is training these already beautiful beginnings of passage and already well executed transitions to a piaffe and back to a passage like movement.

  • He's light on the hind, but all weight is on the forehand.

That's why the piaffe is a sit, not a 'stop and push'.

  • I agree w/ your understanding of a well executed piaffe: it's NOT the result of simultanious breaking and accelerating. You'll notice that I stay completely away from such riding. I also agree that w/ all his elastic forward movement, he already sits down nicely and is NOT out behind.

Waikato has great talent for piaffe/passage and I'm very excited about the progress he'll make over the next months.

BTW, I enjoyed watching you ride. Your horse is light + relaxed and you have a light seat.

I'm back in Germany at the moment. I'd love to come back to the States to teach again sometime though!
