Eastern Phoebe returns 2nd day and tells all.

Phoebe came back to spend the night. She was chirping away...telling me everything that went on out there. ROFL!!!

Yea it is sad when one see some don't make it. Great you guys got to save at least one. Great birds to have around as they eat insects and some berries. They nest twice ..early spring and summer. What I did was capture moths during the night and brought live crickets for phoebe to feed on ..though I still assisted on feeding...until it was time for her to fly away. Good luck with the new one...Please let me know how you two make out. Thanks.

Well, we managed to rescue two phoebe babies last year, and my wife just walked in with a baby from this years clutch. They got scared during last nights thunderstorm. Of the 4 babies, one was seen flying away with its parents, one was found dead, one missing, and the one sitting in front of me is about 75% feathered and looking pretty miserable. He should be ready to go in about a month. I secretly hoped we would get to save another this year, I just feel sorry for the ones that didn't make it.

She has the best of both worlds, complete freedom, and a warm safe home to come back to at night, with the occasional feeding tossed in for good measure! She sounds very content with life, and its great to know she actually came back to visit.
