Tuliptime is a spring highlight for the town of Bowral in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia. The annual parade attracts marching bands, the local undertaker, big rig owners.
In 2009 the local climate action group (CANWin) added their presence by pushing the climate change barrow with a colourful display of human powered wheelbarrow floats.
The flotilla was well received by the crowds and was awarded "best float" by the Parade Organisers.
And a tip to those organising climate change (and people change) events - why not use existing events in your community to get a ready made audience. The "protest" was gentle, easy to organise, fun and blended in well as social awareness raising.
