Due to the nasty weather we've had lately in Washington, I haven't been able to fish for 3 weeks. I decided that I just wanted to get out to a local lake and fish. I knew the chances of catching a fish were virtually impossible but I didn't care. I went anyways just so that I could get out on the water and fish.
I had a massive case of cabin fever while waiting for spring bass fishing. If you are the same as me, get out on the water and practice techniques that you are going to use in the spring. I chose to practice pitching. Watch the video for some simple tips and tricks on how to pitch.
The rod I am using is a 7' 6'' H Team Daiwa T Casting Rod. The reel I am using is a Daiwa Megaforce 100THSL. Together they are an amazing flipping and pitching combo for just about 170 bucks.
The bait that I was using was a Berkley Havoc Skeet Reese's Pit Boss in Vampire Orange. It as rigged on a Red Gamakatsu 5/0 Superline EWG Hook. I was using a 3/8 oz Tungsten Weight pegged with a regular size Peg-It.

You should try for panfish. The lakes look alright for fishing. Way better than over here in Wisconsin where everything is ice. Maybe use a waxworm with your regular bluegill setup. Your probuly the best Youtube fisherman i know keep on bringing the vids man good luck. :)

@walleye196 this lake has black crappie in it which i have caught in late summer / early fall when i first fished it. however, even the panfish go to the deepest part of the lake in winter. since lakes do not freeze over in western washington, virtually nothing other than trout will be caught dead in shallow water until water temps hit 49-51 degrees at least. i haven't used live bait, but i do not know the topography of the lake as there is no info available about how deep it is and where.

@FishingThePNW Browns Brooks or Rainbows? ive seen all your videos and all that trout ones and their awesome. Can you still fish for pink salmon?

@walleye196 pinks only run on odd numbered years and generally start from late summer early fall into early winter - mid winter. this lake supposedly has cutthroat in it but i have never seen them or seen anyone catch them. i've caught a lot brown trout in green lake from mid nov to late january but haven't caught anything since.

@walleye196 water temps are still in the low 40's here in washington. late march - early april is approximately when fishing just begins to pick up again. the bass will be active before the panfish and begin to move up shallow before the panfish show up.

ever used the black max, silver max or pro max before? i think they were remodeled like the megaforce, but i dont know if theyre good or not, i picked each one up and they were really smooth for their price, but past reviews have got me a little iffy

@HATINTHEKAT i have not used either of the abu garcia max reels before. however, i know of a couple buddies who had the black max i and loved it. and i hear the black max ii is way better than the original and is an absolute steal for 50 bucks. for that price i've been tempted to buy one just for the hell of it.
